Self-Catering Apartments in the north of guernsey

The Ellingham Apartments at Bordeaux is located only 30 seconds walk from the brightly coloured fishing boats bobbing in the natural little harbour of Bordeaux, on the northeast coast of Guernsey.   The harbour is a popular spot for artists and photographers due to its natural beauty and gorgeous light as the sun rises.

Have an uplifting start to your day by wandering to the harbour with a mug of tea to enjoy the view of Herm, Jethou and Sark islands and nearby Vale Castle.   The sheltered clear water makes it an ideal place for a swim, particularly when the tide is in.  Children will enjoy building sandcastles and looking for crabs in the rocky outcrops.

This north coast of Guernsey has gentle terrain and miles of flat coastal paths and quaint lanes, ideal for walking or cycling to the white sand and blue waters of L'Ancresse and Pembroke beaches. With beach kiosks and a large cafe, it is easy to spend a day here with the sand between your toes.

The views from nearby Vale Castle are spectacular and a lovely walk away. The current Castle was built about 600 years ago and was ideally positioned to defend the northern side of Guernsey, which at that time was separated from the rest of the island by a channel.  During the Second World War, Germans forces built their own concrete fortifications within, which are still there today.  Each August bank holiday weekend, Vale Castle is transformed into a vibrant whirl of energy as the Vale Earth music and arts festival makes full use of the the acoustics, terracing and atmosphere.  Not to be missed if you are on-island!

Garden full of life

The location of the cottage is great with all local amenities and buses very near-by. The rooms are great and facilities inside the cottage are top class. There is a big playground area towards the back and you can make friendship with the rabbits there who do visit the ground on a regular basis. There are some near-by walks to the bays which are very scenic and excellent for fitness lovers.

Wonderful Stay

Ellingham Cottages are comfortable and well equipped, with a fantastic garden. We were in a superior cottage which had a lovely terrace with BBQ, and our cottage was very child friendly with bed guards, cots and child plates and cutlery all provided. Fiona and Simon are welcoming and went out of their way to help us.

A yummy addition to the stay

Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic time and the cottages have all the amenities we required to help make it a really pleasent stay. This is the 3rd time of staying and addition of the BBQ areas at the back of our cottage is fantastic.
